To buy or not to buy, that was the question. Whilst pointing out the huge differences in property prices around the globe, it appears that we could come up with some general rules: Property as an investment is really only for the big players. When I get a load of money I'll think about buying a 500 sq. meter apartment in Copocabana. Meanwhile, the challenge is to find a good place to live that is affordable. Only buy something you like. Not much good buying a property that looks like a good investment if you don't want to live there - unless you're thinking about becoming a landlord. Renting may be cheaper - the only problem is that you might not be able to stay indefinitely. Urban or Suburban? - That is really a question of lifestyle, workplace, and the money available. Property is not a sure thing, as Tom pointed out. I'd still say that downtown Sao Paulo is a great bet long-term. |
